Thanks for this. I like that concept of caring for my reading habit as a responsibility. Even though it's recommended to not treat reading as a chore, for me it simply is. So I may as well face it and build it into my habit regimen, like brushing my teeth. And for that matter I should do the same with my creative projects. Thx for sharing. :-)
I haven't really been able to read since college but I've mostly just assumed it would come back eventually on its own, despite the years of accumulated negative associations around reading. I appreciate the reminder that I can and should take action if I want to make real progress on this 💜
It's tough to break down those associations! I started with easy wins, like reading short stories, poetry and graphic novels. In hindsight it might have been good to re-read old favorites, though I'm not much of a re-reader.
